Recognizing our people in the community: Candace Kebert
(Columbia, Mo.) – Candace Kebert is a Property Manager at Holladay’s Columbia, Mo. Management Office. She is the Chairperson for Columbia’s chapter of HDSA – Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
HDSA is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by Huntington’s disease, an incurable, genetically transmitted degenerative disease. Huntington’s disease affects the nervous system and impacts movement, thinking, and some aspects of personality.
“A number of family members including my father (its genetic) have suffered from and passed away from HD because there is no cure,” Kebert said. “So, every year I organize a 5k run to raise money for research to find a cure and to raise awareness throughout the community.”
The Team Hope Walk program is HDSA’s signature fundraising campaign. This year’s event took place on June 3 and raised almost $8,000 for research into Huntington’s disease and support for affected people and their families.
