A Holladay Blog Series
Brian Wilcox is a Director of Brokerage Services working from Holladay’s Winter Park, FL management office. Brian is a member of NAIOP Central Florida and he recently passed the Florida real estate broker exam, which allows him to now serve as the active broker for the State of Florida for Holladay. With this new designation, we wanted to learn more about Brian and share what we discovered with you.
Q: Please describe your role:
Brian: I am Holladay’s director of brokerage services for the state of Florida. I am responsible for overseeing all brokerage and marketing related activities within the state for our various public and private clients as well as Holladay’s new business initiatives related to brokerage. I directly oversee two other associate brokers, one in central Florida and one in south Florida.
Q: How long have you worked for Holladay Properties and what was your previous position?
Brian: I have been with Holladay for over 8 years. Previously, I worked for a medical office development firm out of Palm Beach Gardens, FL called DASCO Companies, in a similar role as a Director of Leasing and Development.
Q: Why did you join NAIOP Central Florida?
Brian: NAIOP Central Florida is the leading organization for developers, owners and investors in all real estate asset types. NAIOP comprises 18,000+ members and provides strong advocacy, education and business opportunities through a broad network. The Central Florida chapter is very active and offers Holladay a chance to enhance our new business initiatives while also growing the Holladay brand recognition in the state of Florida.
Q: What will you be doing as the active broker for the State of Florida for Holladay?
Brian: Now that I am the broker of record for Holladay in the State of Florida, largely, my role in overseeing and managing our brokerage activities will remain unchanged. I think it will allow Holladay the opportunity to pursue some different ventures while maintaining the ability to stay flexible and agile when new opportunities present themselves.
Q: What do you love most about your work?
Brian: The people I work for and the people I work with make it very easy to get up everyday and meet new challenges head on. In brokerage, truly, every day is completely different, which is what can make it a little crazy at times, but often very exciting and rewarding.
Q: When you are not at work, what can you be found doing?
Brian: As husband of the best person I have ever known (Naomi) and father of 3 children under the age of eight, Olivia (7), Audrey (4), Graham (20 months), most time outside of work revolves around my family. We love to swim, ride our bikes, and walk the family dog (Riley) around the neighborhood. Outside of family, I love golf and can occasionally be found at the historic Winter Park Golf Course, playing a quick 9. Oh, and anything related to Florida State University athletics. While I’m longing for the days of a competitive football team again, I’ll happily cheer on the basketball, softball, and beach volleyball team in the interim.
Q: Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Brian: The past near-decade has been the most rewarding time in my life, and Holladay has played a tremendous part in that. My passion for this company and its people is greater now than ever before and I’m truly excited for the years ahead.
