Holladay Properties’ Lilac Station, a new 118-unit multifamily development in the heart of Lombard, Illinois, will feature the original ticket booth from the historic DuPage Theater.
The 1,600-pound ticket booth was revealed to Holladay Properties in Summer 2022 and has now been restored by Elevate Sign Group to its original beauty, complete with its marble base, spiral columns, and decorative cornice.
The restored ticket booth and a movie poster of “The Yellow Lily”, the silent drama that premiered on the theater’s opening night in 1928, will be on display behind draped curtains in the lobby of Lilac Station. The top of the apartment building will also feature medallions that were cast and reproduced from an original medallion removed from the theater’s facade and preserved in the Lombard Historical Society collection.
“The Dupage Theater was a pillar of downtown Lombard for so many years, and we’re honored to incorporate several of its gorgeuous architectural elements into Lilac Station. We know how much The DuPage Theater meant to the community, and hope that our homages bring back wonderful memories of nights at the movies,” stated T. Drew Mitchell, patern and senior vice president of development. “If there’s anyone in town with fun stories about the theater, we’d love to hear from them! It was such a special place, and we want to do whatever we can to help keep its memory alive.”
Lilac Station, which is set to open on June 1st, will pay homage to several features of The Dupage Theater.
