Idea for national chef competition came from Holladay Properties
(South Bend, IN) – In a recent article in the South Bend Tribune regarding a national chef competition, creator Fernando Salazar credited the idea to Holladay Properties. The national competition, which decided which of eight chefs would compete in the World Tapas Championship in Valladolid, Spain, took place on September 12 at the Hilton Garden Inn and Gillespie Conference & Special Event Center, a Holladay-owned hotel and convention center in South Bend.
When asked why he decided to hold the U.S. finale in South Bend, Salazar claimed it paid tribute to Holladay because of competitions the company has held among chefs in its locally-owned hotels.
