A Holladay Blog Series

David Holt is the Senior VP of Development and Community Affairs working from Holladay’s Indianapolis, IN office. David has been with Holladay for over a year now and serves on numerous boards and advisory committees, including the Greater Indianapolis Foreign Trade Zone Board 72, and the Mid-State Corridor Coalition. He recently became a board member of the Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association. With this new board appointment, we wanted to learn more about David and share what we discovered with you.

Q: Describe your role at Holladay?

David: I am responsible for development of our industrial portfolio at AmeriPlex and work with the Indianapolis Airport Authority to develop key parcels of World Connect @ IND, the airports business park.  I am also responsible for all government affairs, political action committee and trade association activities for the company.

Q: Why did you join the Indiana Restaurant and Lodging Association and what kind of commitment does that entail?

David: When hired by Holladay, I was asked to analyze our trade association and political activities and put an action plan together to engage with groups that might help us gain more development opportunities statewide. From the analysis, a plan was put together and many different statewide and local trade associations were identified with which we should engage. The Indiana Restaurant and Hospitality Association was one of these groups, based on the fact that they represent hotel owners and managers at the General Assembly. Once I reached out to their president, whom I have known for years, he asked if I was interested in a seat on the board. Currently, the commitment is 2-4 meetings a year and a few events in Indianapolis. The networking is very advantageous to Holladay and we are getting recognized as a key hotel player throughout the State of Indiana.

Q: Are you on any other boards or committees?

David: Currently, I serve on the board of the Greater Indianapolis Foreign Trade Zone Board and the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis, and I have been asked to participate as a voting member on the Indiana Builders Association board. I also serve on the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s Congressional Affairs, Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee, the Indy Chamber’s Local Government Fiscal Policy Committee and the Conexus Indiana Logistics Council.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your work?

David: Every day is different and challenging.  It is exciting to get up and have the opportunity to pursue industrial development that will add value to Holladay Properties and our associated landowners.

Q: When you are not at work, what can you be found doing?

David: Our kids are very active in their school at St. Malachy and in extracurricular sports.  I coach my son’s soccer team, am the football coordinator for St. Malachy, travel for hockey in the winter for my son, attend my daughter’s dance recitals, and spend family time at our pool in the summer.

Q: Is there anything else that you would like to add?

David: Working for Holladay has been an incredible opportunity.  I could not be more grateful for the opportunity and look forward to many more years adding value to this incredible family friendly company.
